Game 2 Video

Part 1:

Part 2:

Defensive Tips

3-2 zone rotations

Some help with man-to-man defense

and I like this play against a 2-3 zone (gives a lot options and takes the pressure off the 4 or 5 to make the decisions with the ball in the middle

Game 3

Starters:

Bobby
Sam
KC
Nakul
Mike

On defense, start in a 2-3 zone. If they are able to shoot around us too much, then we will switch to the 3-2 zone.

On offense, since we’re likely to play against a 2-3 zone, conserve your energy when the ball is being brought up. Instead of running around and setting screens, focus on getting good position and making cuts to the gaps when the defense is out of position.

Game 2

O’Shea School
77th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Ave.
Gym is on the 2nd floor.
7:45pm

Starting team:
Sam
Ankit
KC
Nakul
Mike

We are short (literally). So, players who are in particular positions should work with each other on their subbing:

Starter Sub
Sam = Nakul
Nakul = Nate
KC = Phil
Ankit = Dkim
Mike = Paulas

Note: If Sam needs to come out, there will be a double sub, Nakul for Sam, Nate for Nakul. This means, if Sam is out, then both Nakul and Nate should be in.

Injured list:
Bobby

Game 1 & some other things

The items below are topics discussed by a few of us and we hope will provide a strategic guideline for our season:

A) Position depth chart (bolded names are 1st string, no order afterwards):

1 – Ankit; Mike; Paulas

2 – Mike; David; Ankit

3 – KC; Phil; Nakul; David

4 – Sam; Nate; Nakul

5 – Bobby; Sam

This does not mean that the designated positions are the only position you will play.  This is merely a guideline.

B) Strategic teams:

Running team:

Ankit

Mike

Phil/KC

Nate

Sam

Shooting team:

Sam

Bobby

Phil

David

Ankit/Mike

Defensive team:

Mike

KC

Nakul

Nate

Sam

C) Rules of Engagement (just some things to think about and try for most of us):

Paulas – no 3 pointers when you are defended well.  Target only open 3s.

Phil – don’t have to force the shot, look for cutters too.

Nakul – when deep in the paint w/ the ball, go up, don’t pass out, unless necessary.

Nate – avoid being a popcorn machine, outlet quicker on defensive rebounds.

Ankit – don’t force it; reset, call time if needed.

Sam – less dribbling, look up for cutters if you are dribbling.

Mike – no wannabe kidd passes, no ‘hot sauce’.

If at anytime it become impossible to do any of these, it probably means the team is not playing or moving well and people are not doing their part.  This is when subs occur or time out is called.

Scrimmage Results

Here is a brief recap of the scrimmage yesterday.

To be fair, the team we played against wasn’t that good.

KC played very well scoring like 15+ points.

Phil didn’t shoot like he said and had 6 assists (counted by Phil).

Ankit had nice penetrations and passes.

Bobby did his thing down low and taking some breakaways.

Paulas outran everybody like Forest Gump, but played extremely well.

Sam hit a three.

It was good to see Ankit and Paulas take advantage of their speed to tire the opponent.

We had nice passes and executed.

On the other hand, we still had the same turnovers like from passing and too many passes under the hoop.

Overall, we played well against a crappy team.

So, we are placed in a division ranging from 24-27 and our first game will be next week, which will be announced later today.

I will keep everyone posted.

The t-shirts will be available next week, so I will pick it up from the league on Monday.
